A shared style of dress can strengthen a sense of belonging and community. At the same time, fashion is always an expression of one’s own personality. At Phorms, we combine precisely these two ideas in our Uniphorms school clothing. We made a conscious decision not to adopt a traditional school uniform. Instead, we view our Uniphorms garments as a kind of spirit wear that visibly demonstrates a sense of belonging to the Phorms community while still leaving plenty of room for our students’ individual styles.
A shared look with personal choices
Our style guide is based on the colors dark blue, gray, and white, complemented by strategic accents in our Phorms red. From the various items in the collection, families can work with their children to choose which pieces suit them best and then order them through the Uniphorms Shop. We regularly add variety with special editions that temporarily expand the regular collection with unique colors, cuts, or designs. The focus is on outerwear, which defines the shared Phorms look. Children and teens can pair these with bottoms of their choice based on their personal preferences. Those who wish can also find these directly in our Uniphorms collection.
School uniforms can also serve as a unifying element in physical education classes. How they’re used in these settings varies by school location.
One Framework, Many Possibilities
A uniform framework can make many things easier. The daily questions about brands or current trends take a back seat. At the same time, children and teenagers at Phorms don’t all have to look the same. That’s why Uniphorms doesn’t prescribe a single look. Sweaters, shirts, polo shirts, and other garments can be mixed and matched in various ways. This allows students to choose what makes them feel comfortable while still showing: “I belong to this community.”
Responsibility Starts with Manufacturing
The question of how and under what conditions our school clothing is made is important to us. A large portion of Phorms’ clothing is manufactured in collaboration with long-standing production partners in the Manisa region near Izmir, Turkey.
From the cotton to the finished garment, many steps are involved, with much of the work - such as cutting, sewing, ironing, and finishing - done by hand or with a sewing machine. Our partner, Dress for School, ensures quality and responsible standards throughout the process. Their own basic collection is certified according to the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 and has therefore been tested for harmful substances. In addition, they prioritize the use of certified textiles.
Good school clothing should last a long time. High-quality materials, careful craftsmanship, and fair working conditions are therefore more important to us than the lowest possible price. That’s why we take extra care to ensure that, despite these quality standards, Uniphorms items are offered to families at a fair and reasonable price.
