Congratulations to Phorms Berlin Süd on being named an “International Sustainability School – Environmental School in Europe.”

On June 24, the campus was presented with the corresponding certificate at Berlin’s Rotes Rathaus.

This award recognizes schools that embed sustainability into their daily school life over the long term and actively promote environmentally conscious behavior.

As part of the certification process, participating schools address various areas of action related to the environment and sustainable development. A panel of experts evaluates the submitted projects, paying particular attention to how firmly the measures are integrated into the school’s daily routine.

Sustainability Across Borders

The international aspect of the award also underscores that education for sustainable development does not stop at national borders. Through the global Eco-Schools network, schools can incorporate global perspectives more fully and connect with partner schools in other countries.

Students Play an Active Role

Over the past two years, teachers and students on campus have implemented numerous initiatives that bring sustainability to life in various ways. These include, among others, an urban gardening project, a composting project, recycling initiatives, and projects focused on resource conservation and environmental awareness.

Another key component is the Eco Club, which meets once a week and is led with great dedication by teacher Kieran Kiely. There, students have the opportunity to contribute their own ideas, carry out specific projects, and actively engage with sustainability issues.
