How can students from different European countries work together on STEM topics, even if they don’t speak the same language?

This is exactly where Mission STEM comes in, and we are very pleased that Phorms Hamburg is now part of this European Union-funded educational project.

Together with the GoInno Institute, Foley’s School in Cyprus, and MIND gGmbH, the Central Hessian Institute for Sustainability and Diversity, new STEM learning formats will be developed over the coming years for students in grades 5 and 6. MIND gGmbH is leading the project.

Discovering STEM Without Pressure to Perform

Mission STEM aims to inspire young people’s enthusiasm for math, computer science, natural sciences, and technology in a playful and hands-on way.

Participating schools will serve as European “Mission Bases.” Working in small teams during regular classes or project weeks, students will develop their own STEM missions with local and cultural relevance.

The tasks are then exchanged with partner schools in Europe, where they are worked on. Through asynchronous exchange and appropriate methods, the teams can collaborate on solutions regardless of any language barriers.

Phorms Hamburg Contributes PBL Expertise

The campus will not only implement the missions in practice together with the students but will also incorporate its expertise in project-based teaching into the development of the overall concept.

Project-Based Learning is already firmly anchored in Phorms Hamburg’s educational philosophy. Mission STEM therefore ties directly into existing teaching practices.

The first missions will begin in the coming school year

The first students in grades 5 and 6 will work on the missions and network with the European partner schools.

We are pleased that Phorms Hamburg, together with international partners, is providing new impetus for STEM education and actively shaping Europe-wide cooperation in the field of education.
